8/31/2010 THE FORCE THAT THROUGH THE GREEN FUSE DRIVES THE FLOWER

I've been converting a few lenses over to PL mount, relatively inexpensive ones, compared to the costly ones I usually use for filming. An Ebay auction brought this Tamron 31a into my life. Not many were made, they were 'sticker shock' expensive in their day. This one was close to new; the original box, warranty card, little strap, those little "passed" stickers. I'm not sentimental about cameras, I think that people who collect and treasure photo gear as it it were uncirculated buffalo nickels have gone a step too far. A camera is for making pictures the same way a hammer is to pound nails. Sure, they're expensive, so you treat them nicely and don't abuse them, but it's not an emotional thing.

Back to the Tamron, take it apart... a little shave with the lathe, say, 'Adios!' to a few unwanted parts, and now it's in PL mount and all is well in the world.

I got to work with Ken Corbin and Tristan Bayer to shoot some spiders, reptiles and amphibians in 3D with the Element Techinica Pulsar 3D rig and RED MX cameras, it was a potent combination and the results will be blown up to 3D Imax 15-70 !

It works! Tokia 11-16 in PL mount. The pictures are amazingly good. Dr Lens is going to take it the rest of the way with a Stainless Mount and proper gears. Doing the conversion was fun in a build the ship in the bottle kind of way.
